I just wanted to know what most veteran final fantasy players think of the battles systems in ff 11 and ff crystal chronicles as to the turn based battle system of ff1 through ff X-2. Cuz i know a lot of people who love ff11’s battle system but they have never played the other ff’s and people who hate the battle system in 11 but love the one in all the other ff’s.

Turn based!!! It’s just not FF without it. It’s almost a trade mark of FF games

The turn based battle system wuz better, but i am still waiying to play FF11 and see how the battle system is we could use a little change in the battle system so as 2 up the gameplay or make it even better i think this is what FF11 and FF12 r going to do.

I heard that in 12 they were going back to turn based cuz when they went to real time they lost a lot of old fans and people complianed saying it wasnt final fantasy so i heard in 12 they were goping back to turn based with a few new things

if 12 is real time then im gonna be pissed becuase then they got rid of the one thing that made final fantasy unique. now its just another hack and slash game.

You think turn-based combat made FF unique? You haven’t played many games, I’m guessing.

i meant to say "one of the …" not "the one"

heh at 15-0 it would appear that the turn-based system is prefered, although thats not really surprising considering it was the system we all used on (id guess) a lot of our favourite games 🙂

plus i just prefer it, but having only scanned the above posts, ill not go into details as im sure someone else has mentioned valid reason/s already 🙂

–edit–

just wanted to add, although we would prefer XII to be turn based, i for one would still buy it if it wasnt, would just be something to get used to

We should send this to square enix maybe it will change their minds.

no they should not change there minds because if they did they would have to delay it again for most likly over a year and second im looking forward to this new battle system because who knows it might be better and third they needed to try somthing new because the old system is great no doubt about that but lots of people are getting tired of the same old thing and are wanting somthing new.

Well, get ready to be pissed.
You can send this thread to Squeenix, and I gaurentee you won’t get a responce, and with the slight chance that you DO, it won’t be a positive one.

Also, playing the same game with slightly different rules each time and a different storyline and world is what’s gonna kill Final Fantasy, not them swtiching it up.

"Real time" games (which aren’t, you have delays between attacking in most.. and they’re not "hack and slash") – assuming you mean MMO style like XI – are very similar to being turn based due to weapon delays.

I prefer Turn based in Final fantasy, but so far the best combat system I’ve used in a game was Legend of Zelda OoT’s Z targeting, that was incredible

Turned base, you can’t even think in real-time

I hate the real time ones. It took the excitement anyway. It’s probably one of the reasons why I dislike FFCC so much.

Turnbased rules. It adds a lot more stratagy to the game dont u think?

Turned base, you can’t even think in real-time

Everytime you think it’s happening in real time. o.O

and I don’t understand how being forced to think quickly on your feet and get adrenaline pumping (maybe, depending on how intense of a gamer you are and how hard thep art is) could be considered "less exciting"…

also, there’s plenty of strategy in Real time.

however, 99% of the planning happens before you go, and the rest is instinct.
