Hey, I’m new here, so hi everyone 🙂

I am considering selling my FFVII and FFVIII, both for PC and they both come with the box, the CD case and the strategy guide. The only thing missing is the manual for FFVII.

Anyway, FFVII has the triangular box, which I hear is quite rare and everything is in great condition. In fact, my FFVII stuff is in pretty much perfect condition.

So any idea what all this is worth?

Thanks a ton 🙂

Depends really. The ‘triangular box’ version of FFVII I’ve heard is pretty rare, so you might get a fair amount for it on eBay. But because the PC version was re-released by EA under their ‘Platinum’ series (along with FFVIII PC version), there isn’t as much demand for the PC versions as there used to be (the fact there are tons of bootlegs floating around as well didn’t help either).

Your best bet is to check going prices on eBay and see if they’re worth putting up for sale.

Just adding here, playing the PC version of FF7, i despised it because it used MIDI -_-‘
If it were an original FF7 PS1, i think I’d be more interested in that item.

As for FF8, well give me an original FF8 disk 3 that doesn’t destroy itself in scratches within the first use.

My only concern would be:
If you sold it to someone, they would need Windows 98 or less to actually play the game if they decide to do that…
So in reality, how much is it really worth?

I seen FF8 for PC go for 25$ CAD at an anime convention, it was mint condition with original wrapper and price tag.

I’m not sure about how well FFVII PC would run under Vista, if at all, but I do know it does run under XP. You just need to patch and tweak it a little (in particular, installing the Chocobo patch to fix a notorious crash at the Chocobo Races is essential).

In fact, I run FFVII PC under XP and it runs very well (I did have to install half a dozen patches and experiment a little though in order for it to become stable but you get the idea).

And despite what’s been said, the MIDI soundtrack isn’t too bad – some tracks are substandard in their replication where others are almost exactly the same as the PSX in quality.

The big kicker that annoyed a lot of people though is that One-Winged Angel naturally lost it’s vocals, so it’s instrumental only. Other than that, there’s nothing wrong with it.

Consummers opinion:
Blah, I wouldn’t buy a game where I had to put all sorts of patches in order to fix it… O_o
