The things insomnia makes me wonder about. How many other people would lie awake wondering what the point of Yang’s "power" ability is? Same goes for the FFV monk’s ability. You skip one turn and then attack on the second turn for twice as much damage. Why not just attack normally once per turn?

Maybe you’re fighting an enemy like the Mist Dragon 😉

Are there any enemies like the mist dragon you fight with Yang? Also, this skill was removed on the American version of the game too, or am I mistaken?

It was removed from FFII US but it’s in the FF Chronicles version of FFIV.
I still don’t get it.
EDIT: Valvalis, the wind fiend, creates an air barrier that can only be broken by Kain’s jump. So when Kain’s still in the air and Yang’s turn comes up, powerx2 is useful. Still trying to figure out when this is useful in FFV, though.
