I heard a rumour that the W-item was placed in the game by Square with the intention of multiplying items to make it easier? I think this is a load of bullshit, tbh, but does anyone else know?
What do you think?
W-Item
Cheat or Squares way of showing their appreciation?

Yes, it’s true. Yet another way of making FFVII ten times more easier than it already is. To do the trick, you must have 2 of the said item. Select the Item, then confirm on the enemy/player. Now when you go to confirm with the other item, select cancel and the item will duplicate itself each time you select and cancel it. So basically you’re now pressing O, X, repeatedly until you have 99 of that item. Not all things can be duplicated (Weapons/Accessories/Key Items) etc. Hope that helps.

thanx for the reply, but what i meant was, Did Square mean to put it in, or was it just a glitch in the game? Seems plausable to say that it is a glitch but spose in a way it could be for the sake of making the game easier

Oh, I see what you’re saying now, silly me. I think it was intentional, but I can’t prove it either. They may have thought that the player would get tired of fighting in the crater, killing monster after monster just for some cash for raising chocobo’s and whatnot so they implemented it. But then again, as you say, it could be a mistake in the programming.

I think it was just a mistake… It’s not Square-like to enter gliches that make the gameplay easier, except for builds where some chara’s become invincible. (KOTR-W-SUMMON COUNTER COMBI)
