Life on Mars and Ashes To Ashes are British television series’ broadcast on BBC One between 2006 and 2010. The first two series combines elements of speculative fiction and police procedural, featuring an officer from the Greater Manchester Police (played by John Simm) who wakes up in the 1970s after being involved in a road accident, whereas the three series’ of Ashes To Ashes tell the story of Alex Drake (played by Keeley Hawes), a police officer in service with the London Metropolitan Police, who is shot in 2008 and inexplicably regains consciousness in 1981. Both are under the leadership of racist and sexist thug DCI Gene Hunt.

Top notch UK TV, totally hooked to this when it was first on TV. During the course of the screenings, I collated the soundtracks together over the years, using the official soundtracks and material from my own music collection.

This collects the complete soundtracks to all 5 series (2 for life On Mars + 3 for Ashes To Ashes) + bonus 7” mash up single. I think this is the only time the complete soundtracks have been presented in full, and in programme order and on screen music order. There are duplicate tracks for a few episodes but overall shouldn’t ruin the experience.

Soundtracks in total run to about 10 gig in size.
