I have Re-Volt (Dreamcast version) loaded up in Foobar but when I play the CD-Audio Redbook tracks, I hear just clicks and pops. I’ve had no problem ripping PSX Redbook games with Foobar (for instance, the PSX version of Revolt works fine). Is there a special method for extracting Redbook audio from DC games?

are you 100% certain it’s Redbook audio? alot of Dreamcast streamed audio was in the ADX format, which can’t be played like normal Redbook.

EDIT: I just checked josh.w’s archive (http://dsf.joshw.info/r/), and they are encoded as mp3 files (which means they weren’t in the ADX format originally, as the archive only uploads the rawest form they can be extracted as).

I know. The joshw archive always has the redbook rips converted to MP3. They don’t plan on uploading lossless rips due to limited service space, so I want to do it myself.

So, I figured it out. The trick is to find a disc rip that has the Redbook files stored in *.raw format. You can load the files in Audacity using the Import Raw Data option (make sure to select 16-bit, two channels, 44100 audio) and then export them as *.wav. 🙂
