Funny though what people consider "classic" horror films these days. Not one of them, not even "Evil Dead", can be considered a "classic".

Why are they in your opinion no classics? The Orphanage and The Ring are really good movies regardless of genre. American Psycho is also a very iconic movie in my opinion, but not really horror. I’d say they at least are comparable to The Thing and The Omen. But yes movies such as Saw and Final Destination to me were interesting ideas on paper, but just not executed right and the likes of 28 Days Later rather forgettable.
I have seen many a modern horror movie, but also older ones from The Innocents to The Exorcist movies, and I really must say that to me there are plenty of good modern movies to be found and should not be overshadowed by older classics. I might add that as a relatively young person myself I grew up with movies from the late 90s and 2000s, and because of that I find it hard to connect with older movies the same way I do with newer ones. I have no interest in bashing older movies as I find it pivotal to look at everything objectively and form my opinion on everything sans influence of anyone else or nostalgia (besides this is coming from someone who listens to classical music and prefers most older recordings to newer ones). It really is not because I find them "boring", that I am "desensitized", that the special effects are "cheap", or any of that. After seeing so many movies I have finally realized why this is, and it is due to the audio (which I realized watching the remake of The Omen right after the original). Older movies–even on Blu-ray–just do not sound as true to life as modern ones. A sound clip of two seconds is enough to discern the two from each other.
Because I am so used to crystal clear audio and dialogue, a 70s movie just sounds like a movie to me, and it is extremely difficult for me to engross myself in the world created because of this. My brain constantly reminds myself I am watching a movie, and there is nothing I can do to stop this regardless of how hard I try. People who grew up with older movies do not have this problem, but I can still very much appreciate movies for what they are though. Yet it still sucks there are so many movies in the genre I cannot enjoy to the fullest (well executed old horror movies still trump mediocre ones now, but there were also plenty of bad ones back then). For the horror genre especially it is vital one can immerse in the film, something not so essential for other genres (12 Angry Men, The Dollar Trilogy, you know them).
This is no attack, just curious what someone’s opinion on this is and wanted to chime in a reason why younger people might unknowingly find older horror movies that enthralling anymore other than superficial reasons.
Anyway, I think the title refers to "classics" as in terms of the musical themes, not film quality.
