Anyone been watching this?

I reckon it’s pretty good so far, starting to find its feet. I can see why some reviews have criticised it as boring but I think there is enough going on to maintain interest and it’s building up very nicely. It does lack that certain cutting edge that The Wire had though and it took me a little while to adjust to the fact that it wasn’t about drug dealers. The characterisation isn’t as uniformly strong as it was in The Wire either, I think the college professor and Davis are particularly weak. I’m not a massive fan of all the live music scenes also, I can appreciate why they’re there and it’s a directorial and artistic decision they have made but I just find myself zoning out for ten minutes of filler an episode.

But yeah, overall I’m liking it. Chuck’s probably my favourite show right now seeing as House is terrible but I think Treme will only get stronger and could potentially reach heights approaching those achieved by The Wire.
