I’ve seen the Japanese version like, 15 times, but I haven’t seen the English one all the way through (cause it was kind of dissappointing in my opinion..) But at the same time, translation probs have always been a possibility – So ON to the POINT! –}} When we first see Barret (when he stops Denzel from running further towards Bahamut), in the Japanese version I have, Barret says something close to, "Protect your mother." I know Tifa isn’t Denzel’s mother, so what is that supposed to mean? (or @ least I didn’t think so?) Any ideas?

well, is the japanese version different? cuz u said u heard it was dissapointing. Is there more fight seens in the japanese one then the english?? i dunno just curious.

Now then in the english one, it doesnt say protect your mother, it says, you look after mother. I have no idea either. Buuuttt it could be a possibility that denzel is tifa’s son and maybe tifa got married to barret or cloud?? never mentioned in the movie tho so i could be wrong

It is funny to see how people forget that Advent Children is only 2 years after the even in FF VII. Denzel cannot be Tifa’s son then.

Tifa and Cloud take care of orphans, so it is only natural that she would end up being a mother figure to them.

And no, the translation has been actually quite well done. There is nothing in the movie that has been stranslated wrong and could make you understand the story differently.

The only problem with translation is that they change the wording a bit and lines to match the original Japanese syllibles. Examples:
Japanese: Kaasan wa doputa
Translated Subtitles: Where’s mother
English: Where’s mother

"Kaasan wa" by itself means "Where’s mother".

Translated subtitles: You’re hiding her, aren’t you?
English: We know you hid her, Brother.

Translated Subtitles: Put the President on. You’re starting to annoy me.
English: I don’t wanna talk to you anymore. Put the President on.
