Terminus on VGMdb (http://vgmdb.net/album/2234)

The music of Terminus is very much reminiscent of Babylon 5 and Mass Effect, and predates the latter by seven years. Some tracks like "Mars Eternal" also strongly remind of the Ecco the Dolphin CD soundtrack by Spencer Nilsen. This is what composer Todd Masten says about this space game:

Terminus was my first large scale project and I poured my heart and soul into the compositions. The game was a space flight and combat simulator for PC, Mac and Linux. The creators [Vicarious Visions] were big fans of Babylon 5, so I did quite a bit of research into the music of the show which was written by former Tangerine Dream founder Christopher Franke.

The music became a fast paced blend of orchestral instruments layered over heavy percussion with some techno elements sprinkled in. Terminus was one of the first titles to ship with a separate soundtrack disc included with every copy of the game. I recorded the project using Digital Performer and the main instruments were a Roland JV-1080 and a Roland D-70. I included some guitar on a few tracks where it seemed to fit; mostly minor melodic lines played using an e-bow.

Once the score was complete I joined the company as their Audio Director, and remained there until Activision bought us out four years later.

Most of the Terminus soundtrack is available in streaming format on Todd’s website (https://www.toddmasten.com/games).

As the OST disc was, to my knowledge, never sold separately and has become rather difficult to obtain, I’ve decided to offer it in Ogg Flac quality. An Ogg Opus "lossy" version (with an overkill 192 kbps bitrate) is available for the adventurous and bleeding edge audiophiles. Vorbis/MP3/MP4 won’t be provided by me, but feel free to share your links in this thread.

Thanks; it’s always nice to come across (somewhat) hidden gems of this sort.
