Wow! 1950’s Herrmann score for a Hitchcock movie, what a great share!

source – mono or stereo ?
This is the 1990 release (Soundstage Records 575). These are the cover scans:

BH_TWM_Soundstage_Covers.rar – 661 KB (http://www.sendmyway.com/q4tye5b4d5cw)

There was an expanded release in 2006 from FSM (Film Score Monthly FSMCD Vol. 9, No. 7). Track listings for that second release can be found here:

Wrong Man, The- Soundtrack details – SoundtrackCollector.com (http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/title/17235/Wrong+Man%2C+The)

The FSM release features the complete score in monaural sound. This is what the FSM booklet has to say about their release:

"… Warner Bros. long ago destroyed the stereo masters to their 1950s soundtracks, but kept selected scores in mono, which were more recently transferred to 2” archival tape. Though the "Prelude" has been re-recorded on a variety of Herrmann and Hitchcock compilations, this marks the first release of the complete original soundtrack."

The Soundstage release (which also is in mono) may have had those same mono transfers as source material. This is what they had to say about their release on their back cover:
"This historic recording was originally made on high quality analog equipment. We feel this compact disc transfer, made from the original master tapes, is a testimony to our dedication to preserving the fidelity and clarity of the original source."

I don’t know about the difference in quality – the FSM people are known for enhancing the quality by remastering old transfers, but the Soundstage release has more music (source material, rehearsal tracks), so I recommend to get both releases for a well-rounded experience!

If anybody is interested in the FSM re-release (in lossless .ape format, including booklet scan), p.m. me (Don’t aks for links on this thread, please, I won’t answer them!)
