Windows XP is a great computer operating system.

It also does many things that the later OS does not.

People need to work with it before it goes away.

1. You can use the Sound Recorder to digitize sound up to WAV48. Try it with Game Music. You need to extend the length one minute at a time.

2. Internet Explorer 6 is still usable and there are still new updates! You might get something out of it, and tabs do not get in the way.

3. Maybe I will make some stuff with Super Jukebox SPCs. You might get the music of any SuperNintendo (SNES) game you want!

More coming later!

What is "WAV48" ???

48 bit depth ??
48 KHz ??

If it’s 48 bit depth, that’s overkill.
24 is sufficient.
32 float is even overkill but useful for editing.

Sounds like you only use it for video games. Limited world.

There are advanced video editing software that’s exclusive to the Windows XP (x64) version only.
I’ve yet to try it but keep them backed up in case I do try it out.

I used to dread the day it would stop getting service updates, but I’m quite fond of Windows 7 (x64).

I’m fairly convinced that Windows 7 is very great and worth it in x64 bits.
For my needs.

For my needs, WinXP doesn’t suit me anymore.

Glad their gone. :treknod:

WAV48 does not exist. And Audacity, a free download which can be downloaded and installed in ten seconds flat, utterly wipes the floor with Sound Recorder.

Internet Explorer 6 is THIRTEEN YEARS OLD, slow, and insecure.

Windows XP, in itself, is a good operating system but it’s also thirteen years old which is a lifetime in computer years. It comes from a different era. Windows 7 is faster on equivalent hardware. There is absolutely NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER in using Windows XP over Windows 7, unless you are dependent on some esoteric piece of software that doesn’t work with any other version. Even in that case, I’d rather use a modern operating system and run my old piece of software in a VM.

Forget XP. Just go to TigerDirect or Newegg and get a Windows 7 laptop. Not that fugly Windows 8 bollocks. You can get them brand new from reasonable prices. Get it while you can. Show Micro$oft what happens when you rehash AOL as a mainstream computing OS.

We still use XP at work and I despise it. After using Windows 7 when it came out, I realized how slow XP really was. This year, our company
is upgrading all of our PCs to Windows 8, bypassing Windows 7 all together. XP was good for it’s time, but that is long past.

I like my esoteric software. 🙂 I agree and do run it my old progs in VM.

Esoteric is the way to go. I’m currently using Sinclair Research O/S with a 16K RAM pack and a tape deck. The internet’s a bitch though.

When everything was not about touch, but about buttons. I like XP so much that i have that as a theme on Windows 7.

use VirtualBox from Oracle/Open Source community. I run XP, 98 SE, OS/2, 3.11 and Linux in my Windows 8.1 machine. Good stuff.

Now doing more stuff with the XP computer. Probably will make some SPC stuff soon! What are the three most important SNES games that you want the music of?

WAV48 is the khz of the sound. (16bit)

Just install XP on a virtual machine and if it catches anything wipe and repeat.

So there’s been a few threats lately on XP.

Good. Now the world can move forward and those who arrive (to Win7+), survive.
