The DVD is a thing of beauty… the sound/music is just top notch. Flawless restoration by The Criterion Collection.

Wish I could say the same about the rerecording of the music which is a tad lackluster but I doubt we will ever see the full score. Victor Young knew when to use the ‘Stella By Starlight’ theme when needed, otherwise the film is scored with appropriate scary music or delightful music or suspenseful music etc.

If Jerry Goldsmith had done the score, he’d have milked a single theme throughout the whole film.

BUY IT.

The booklet I provided is incomplete. It also includes an interview with the film’s director… this was his first film… Gail Russell was a nervous wreck… the squirrel & dog scene… and feeling that the movie still holds up after so many decades.

I saw The Uninvited a few weeks ago and I enjoyed its atmosphere, and Ray Milland and the charming Gail Russell and of course the beautiful score, so thanks !
