Not true. "Apple Lossless" is a name that only applies to files made with the ALAC/ALE encoder. Normal iTunes/iTunes Plus files like the ones you’ve posted here, are made with the AAC encoder. Both the ALAC and AAC encoders use the .m4a file extension, but they are not the same.

Not sure what you mean, but the Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) is most definitely NOT an Advanced Audio Codec (AAC). AAC is strictly lossy.

We’re not going on and on because of the mistake. I couldn’t care less. I always listen to music, not to a bitrate. If the music is bad, lossless doesn’t make it better.
