Sometimes a little too minimalistic or atmospheric, but very well done nonetheless. This score was particularly good in the movie, it very effectively and subtlely induced tension and terror, without excessive orchestral extravaganza.

Thanks for this nice post.

This is a score I admire a lot. It’s truly an inspiration for me to see a director in this day and age of commercial, committee-produced dross having a hand in every part of a film’s presentation. That there’s even a director working now who is so musically literate is incredible. Neither the film nor its score are going to rock your world, but they are both tastefully and intelligently crafted. The delicacy of some of the orchestration is beautiful. It’s just a shame that overall the score is a little anonymous, but as arthierr says it works very well accompanying the movie. Amenabar is definitely one to keep an eye (and an ear) on! Thanks for posting 🙂
