It’s official. Kristin Kreuk is Street Fighter’s Chun Li! D:

"December 21, 2007 – ComingSoon.net has learned that "Smallville" star Kristin Kreuk will play Chun-Li in Hyde Park Entertainment’s Street Fighter: Legend of Chun-Li! Directed by Andrzej Bartkowiak from a Justin Marks script, the action pic starts filming in Thailand in March, 2008. 20th Century Fox will distribute the live-action feature based on Capcom’s video game. The movie is focused on female fighter Chun-Li and her journey for justice."

Although she’s hot, why is it that they never get an actor/ess of the same race as the characters they portray.
It’s as if the Execs. say: Who cares? People won’t notice – even though it’s a well known character

I think it depends whether they’re looking for fresh blood or not. Sometimes there will be auditions where they look for less-recognized or even new faces, while other times they want a big name to lure people in. Some other times, there will be directors who have a person chosen before production starts… But most of the time, like with any real job, it’s about the connections you have.

Honestly I could pretty much predict they were going to cast Kristin Kreuk or Lucy Liu cause they can do "angry faces".

She is part Chinese. Their faces look pretty similar in those pics but she doesn’t have the thighs for the part. On the other hand, she is much better than their original choices, Jessica Alba and Jessica Biel:-\

Question is: Can she also pull off Chun Li’s thick and powerful sexy legs?

I don’t think anyone can.

Although it’s pretty great they’re finally going ahead with this, Chun Li was never among my favourite characters, so the casting choice isn’t really something I’m interested in. I’ll most likely watch this movie for the cameos.

Anyways, I’m sure they could’ve gotten a Kung-Fu star to play the role.

I just hope they don’t go and screw it up like they did the first movie!!!

Has a big fan of Smallville Kristen is great and she will play this part brilliantly she s a good little actress and she can fight on her website it says she can.

The problem with the first movie it was Van Dammes vehicle all the way and too much Guile if a character should have had more focus should have been either Ryu or Ken,they both have better pasts.

At this point, I just pray this movie is viewable. Or, at the least, better than Alone in The Dark.

Sounds like a big o flop to me.

Question is, does it have Ryu and Ken? If not, will most definately flop.

Maybe.

Even though Chun Li is part Chinese she still struck me as more asiatic featured, sept’ for those thighs, those african-esq thighs!

In anycase, it’s still a conspiracy to me. One day all the Street Fighter characters will look like this!
