The Key of the ancients

I found the key well before Bugenhagan told me to go look for it. Now the game will not go forward. Do I have to start over?

Explain what ‘will not go forward’ is. Whereabouts does it not progress?

I found my problem. I forgot to go on Cid’s space ride that carried the Huge Materia to Meteor. Once done, Bugenhagen did his thing with the Key. So onward I go.

I should have seen this earlier having beat this game several times using different combos of players.

I’m using Cloud, Cait, and Vincent now. Thier names are Porksword, Stupicat, and Bad Boy.
