Hello!
Does anybody know where the music at the start of the restored Grotto Scene is from in The Good The Bad and The Ugly? Below is a link to what I’m referring to and I struggle to believe it was recorded as part of the original score as it is not in the same style, sounds tracked in from something else and it clumsily cuts to music tracked from elsewhere in the film (The Mission San Antonio) at 0:28.

Any ideas at all?
Thanks!

The English version of one of the DVD releases (maybe there is only one) is different. There’s no music before whoever it is starts talking and then the stuff that sounds like it doesn’t belong plays, but it transitions to the tracked music much smoother. There’s also a section of it removed that’s in your version. Take a listen: https://mega.nz/#!UoAXzDbY!dmqkz_UwwnlbRGhQkjIiLWgse83MwJxZPeTUCKjAzaw

I noticed that, too. My excerpt is ripped from the original Italian mono track on the 2003 extended edition region 1 DVD release, but the 5.1 English track plays as per your excerpt. I’m guessing that those responsible for creating the 2003 English language restoration felt the need to "smarten up" the ("unknown") music during this sequence; there are other less severe but noticeable examples of this elsewhere in the film, too.
I still want to know what that music is though…! 🙂
