The Dark Knight Trilogy – End Credits Suites [Dolby Headphone virtual 5.1 320 MP3]

Well, seeing as the the whole virtual surround sound thing kind-of started to take off with the DTS Headphone X on the Man of Steel soundtrack, decided to get foobar2000 and play around with a slightly older method from Dolby…

Here are the end credits suites from Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises encoded with Dolby Headphone from holunder2’s 5.1 FLAC versions. Try it with headphones, and see if you think it’s better than the recording sessions/OST versions? Remember, Zimmer did say he hates stereo…

I get the joke but…he said so in an interview when the DTS virtual surround sound was demoed a while back, he can’t listen to his OSTs as they are in stereo as opposed to surround which is what he records in.

Odd. I have been to orchestra performances with certain instrumentalists in the balcony or a choir off stage (Holst The Planets)….. I believe that the choral masterpiece Misere by Allegri has a split chorus…. but I do not know of any music that takes place with someone sit in its center.

Maybe he is a fan of Ring-around-the-rosie?

Cool. I remember when Dolby Headphone was first introduced on the Pearl Harbor dvd in 2001. Of course, we didn’t get an isolated score, but it still sounded awesome.

sinus’ 5.1 Inception Blu-ray Bonus OST encode would be a good place to start?

And it’s Dolby Headphone in use here not DTS. DTS’s thing is proprietary and you can’t encode just any 11.1 thing like the Man of Steel OST.

Plus the isolated score to Big Trouble in Little China.
