Which would be a better gift for a 9 year old? The x-box, PS2, of some other console that’s coming out and I should wait for?

kthnx

It depends on what kind of games he likes or is intersted in. If he likes Mario or Zelda, or any other nintendo games then get him a Gamecube.

If he likes RPG,Action or drivng games then get him a PS2. There are alot of games to choose from in the Ps2/Psx library so it’s highly worth it.

or if he likes shooting and sports games and knows how to play online then get the X-box.

Since he is 9 then I would get a Gamecube since there’s alot of nintendo stuff on it, but the Ps2 and X-box are really good options as well.

PS2 is the safest bet, simply because it has the largest selection. Xbox is being replaced in 2005, and I think the systems from the other two companies come in 2006.

I’d find out what game the kid wants though. If it’s exclusive, then get the system that goes with it.

He mainly plays sports games, if it helps.

PS2, that has the most sports games…But if he likes stuff like Mario or Zelda too, then get him a Gamecube.

For that age range, i’d definately say a GameCube – the games are the most fun, and that’s what’s going to matter the most. There are psuedo-sports games (like Mario Tennis ) available… but if he wants boring gameplay and stats, the Maddens are all on the PS2.

I’ll just say what a lot of people around the world would say:

GET THE GAMECUBE IT’S A KIDDIE SYSTEM!

But of course, that’s not what I believe. For a 9 year old who likes sports games, I would go with the PS2 as well. Most of the sports games for GCN are Mario-related with more emphasis on fun, while PS2 is all serious and crap.

GC has the EA lineup though, so you get that plus the mario sports games. Sega stopped putting their sports games on GC, so if the kid happened to like those, then you can knock that system off the list.

Sports games as a favorite genre isn’t really something to help choose one of the consoles, since they’re usually multi-platform.

Game Cube is for kids imho

Eternal Darkness.

Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes.

Resident Evil 4.

Three GameCube exclusives I wouldn’t let my kids play, if I had any.

If he really likes sports games, I’d say Xbox… but I warn you that he should not be allowed on Xbox Live at all. >:O

PS2, purely based on how much childish shit it holds.

Everyone knows that you are a total lame ‘tard if you don’t explain why you believe that.

If he’s interested in sports games, I’d go with the PS2.

Also, Sega Soccer Smash is pretty awesome.
