Who’d have thought Star Driver would end up giving us the best anime score of 2010?

I think Ryuichi Takada is the surprise star in this one… forget Kosaki – nice theme, but what else is there? By contrast, Takada’s given us a wonderful melancholy waltz (Glittering Star) that recalls Khachaturian, and my favourite action cue in quite some time (Crisis) – the lost art of action music anchored by a theme, in this case, a taut minor key melody for strings…

I won’t deny that Keigo Hoashi’s "Hunger" is a real guilty pleasure as well… another great melancholy cue, wonderfully orchestrated, and a driving electronica beat.

Great stuff.

I wonder if there will be a third…? 😀 😀 😀 😀
