The more I listen to the score of Solo: A Star Wars Story, the more I’m enjoying it.

The final track “Dice and Roll” has a great crescendo leading to… nothing. It’s the end of the album. An obvious solution is to simply program “The Adventures of Han” there, but I kind of like that track as an overture, and anyway, I felt “Dice and Roll” really led well into the classic Star Wars finale. I also felt that the end credits suite was a pretty good summation of the score, and the play-out on “Flying With Chewie” made for a more satisfying conclusion.

I made a reconstruction of the finale and end credits using the original soundtrack CD and a segment of The Empire Strikes Back. One caveat: the theatrical edit uses the shorter, film version of “Lando’s Closet.” After playing around with the music a little to approximate the film version with unappealing results, I decided to just leave the album track as-is. It may not be accurate, but it is more listenable than the alternative (and this is just a stopgap anyway).

Full credit must go to Larsonator, who posted his edit and reference materials here (Thread 224816). Without his reference recording and work identifying the component tracks, this wouldn’t exist.

If you enjoyed this, you might also like my “kitchen sink” version of the finale from The Last Jedi, which I posted here (Thread 223352).
