Silent Hill

I just watched Silent Hill last night. I thought it was really good but I still have a few questions about it.

1.Is the movie the same as the game?
2.Are the 3 little girls the same(the dirty one, the burned one, and sharon)?
3.Are the monsters that are alive before the darkness comes the same as the ones during the darkness?
4.What is the time differance between Rose and her husband, because at the begining of the movie they were together and at the end the were seperated time wise, was she stuck in Silent Hill for like 10 years or something?

I’m not an expert on Silent Hill, however the movie only shares some bleak similarities with the games, i.e. fog, abandoned buildings, weird ass monsters, etc.

As for the three girls, the burnt one is the Alessa who is alive in the ICU, and the other one is a metaphysical form of her, I’m not sure about Sharon though. I know in the game that Cheryl was an incarnation or something of Alessa, however it’s been a while since I saw the movie, I think Sharon and Alessa just looked alike iirc.

For the monsters, it seems the movie stayed true to some degree with the original Silent Hill. In SH1, during the daylight (normal world) there were one type of certain monsters (flying pterodactyl-like creatures, dogs, etc.) In the alternate version there are warped and even to some degree totally different monsters in the alternate Silent Hill.

I’m not sure what the time difference between Rose and Christopher was, I don’t recall an approx guess (i.e. 1-10 years). I figured that they were at least separated by a few weeks or even a month, topped by an alternate world as well. The fog was there when Chris was sleeping on the couch in his world, and when Rose and Sharon returned (presumabely to a different world) the fog wasn’t there. I guess the idea that the two are split between a portal doesn’t help much either 😛
