Of all the requests I’ve ever placed here, I have only had one of them fulfilled. So I expect a roughly 0% chance that anyone will be able to help me out on this one.

As many people are well aware of, despite a plethora of releases for the first Transformers score, there is still quite a lot of music missing. A certain amount of the music is just remixes of existing tracks, but then there are the cues that seem to be only partial versions of existing tracks. The biggest example of this is in the film version(s) of "Optimus", where the track can be heard how it appears on the original soundtrack, except the flute is removed.

I once had a conversation with a very knowledgeable member of this forum who told me that, in these days, when a cue is recorded, all the instruments heard in it are recorded separately. These individual recordings are apparently known as "bounce tracks", and from them the tracks can then be mixed. (I personally have referred to this concept as "stem tracks" as that’s how they were labeled with the TRON: Legacy and Pirates 4 remix challenges.)

So the composer chooses to use all the recorded bounce tracks in arranging his work how he intended it. But then the director or whoever, in mixing the music for the film, says "Nah, I don’t like that instrument; throw it out," or "I would like to hear that instrument better; make it a lot louder." This helps to explain away quite a lot of film versions of cues in many movies.

I don’t know why I just typed out that whole explanation as the only person(s) who will be able to help me already know what I’m asking for. If this sort of thing really exists, and it can be acquired, I am really only after the bounce tracks for one cue…Optimus.

Interesting.

I guess music for scores is different the regular genred music (rock, rap, hiphop, pop, country, metal, etc).
Bounce for scores, Stems for… whatever you call "normal" music.

Off topic:

I seriously don’t know what to call every other type of music that is not classical/score.
It’s like classical/score and opera/theater are on their own planes of existence.
What do those freaks like to call their lumped up music?

Slightly on topic:
I haven’t read the plethora of Transformers threads, but what was the consensus on the track where the Autobots "roll out" from the Hoover Dam?
IIRC, none of the albums I found had it like the film version.
The film version was much more vibrant.
The album version(s) were (all) poor and very… "stock" tracks.

I’d like to request something among the lines of the bounce tracks for the "roll out" cue. Even though it was like, what, 20 seconds?

Exactly on topic:
Sign me up for Optimus as well.

A man after my own heart.

I feel I’ve told enough people on here to ben known as the guy who wants the film version of "Optimus". If I could get that cue (and the sessions from Judgement Day) I will die in peace. I literally mean that.

Is "genred" a word? And why is "normal" music in quotes? You call every other type of music that is not a soundtrack that GENRE that it falls under. Elvis tends to fall under Rock & Roll. Britney Spears tends to fall under Pop. Jay-Z tends to fall under Rap / Hip-hop. Frank Sinatra tends to fall under…well…according to iTunes Easy Listening. Most "normal" people (as you would most likely call them) have a word for this type of music, which all together falls under the same roof: Mainstream

And because I listen to Led – Zeppelin, Journey, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, KISS & Mtley Cre (which would fall under "Rock & Roll", although some may argue Cre is Metal) that makes me a freak? Interesting indeed

I listen to all genres of music, even Country which I cannot stand. Johnny Cash usually falls under that genre, so I count it. Not big on Rap/Hip-hop, Jay-Z is as far as I go. Kanye is a shithead and Rock Ross is not "the boss", Bruce Springsteen is.

But back to Transformers, I seriously am convinced that we’ve got all we were ever going to get. We have the complete scores for all 3 which contain some pretty cool suites as bonus, but I just don’t think we will ever see the sessions, the likes of where the unused early versions of the Scorponok cue came from. And I’m a very optimistic person, I always try to find the brighter side of things – but I just don’t think it will happen. I’m incredibly grateful for what we’ve been given, and I would love for anyone to come forth with said "bounce tracks" and prove me wrong. Nothing would make me happier.

And here’s an addendum to my OP. I know we have several very talented members on this forum who know how to use virtual orchestra programs. I also know that the work they do is terribly time-consuming…And now I have no interest in finishing up this post. Everyone probably knows where it’s going.
