Hi, I hope I’m posting this in the right forum, if not I apologize.

I was wondering how do you guys listen to .flac files you come across? Do you convert them and put them on an iPod, or something else?

Thanks!

For ipod use, download dBpoweramp and convert them straight into ALAC. You can also use Foobar2000 to convert flac to mp3 and what not.

Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC)

FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player (or your car or home stereo, see supported devices (http://flac.sourceforge.net/links.html#hardware)) just like you would an MP3 file.

FLAC stands out as the fastest and most widely supported lossless audio codec (http://flac.sourceforge.net/comparison.html), and the only one that at once is non-proprietary, is unencumbered by patents, has an open-source reference implementation, has a well documented format and API, and has several other independent implementations.

See About FLAC (http://flac.sourceforge.net/features.html) for more, or Using FLAC (http://flac.sourceforge.net/documentation_tasks.html) for how to play FLAC files, rip CDs to FLAC, etc.
FLAC – Free Lossless Audio Codec (http://flac.sourceforge.net/)
Love it. My tone deaf ears think this is the best.
Plays in VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/) very nicely.

My question is ‘Any recommendations for a free .flac file joiner?’
