Okay guys, here is the scoop. I have already told a few of you about this, but I decided that I would have a better chance to figure out what’s wrong if I start a thread about it.

My Xbox is upstairs, and my computer is downstairs, so I decided to try and hook it up with wireless connection. I have a Wireless G Router, by Linksys. I also have a Wireless B Gaming Adapter.

When you try to hook up Xbox Live, there are three components you have to worry about:

1. Make sure the cables are connected correctly.
2. Verify that the IP address are correct.
3. Make sure the DNS Server is resolved.

After that, if everything is good to go, you just create your new account on Xbox Live.

I connected a Cat5 Cable from the back of one of the ports on the router, to the back of the computer. I then ran a small Ethernet cable from the DSL modem to the Ethernet port on the router. That makes all the connections correct. So that’s one less problem I have to worry about.

So that takes care of Step #1

My IP address is set to automatic, but it turns out that I had to configure the router’s settings into the computer itself. So I talked to a technician for about half an hour to get that finished.

Step #2 is complete

But this is where I always have problems. I figured that once I had put in the router’s information for my computer to recognize it, then I would be able to get past the third step. Well, I did everything the technician guy told me to do, and it still doesn’t work. When I turn on the Xbox and try to connect online, Step #3 reads…

"The DNS servers could not be resolved"

So, I was wondering if anyone else here has Xbox Live that they use the wireless connection like I want to do. Or if anyone knows how to solve the problem, please help me. I did everything I can think of, and I’m out of options.

Maybe throw it out the window or move it downstairs.

Usually Linksys routers don’t require that you type something in to recognize that it is connected to a router.

Lemme get some info:

Did you configure your Router via Internet Browser?
What did you set your Xbox’s info (IP Address, DNS, etc)?
Does the wireless game adapter mention anything about connecting to your router?

Wouldn’t you believe it? Soon after I create this thread, I finally get the damn thing working.

Is’t there also something wrong with the XBOX powercords? I remember hearing about it on the news last night.
