I finally have the chance to play FFIX, I recently bought and I have all summer to play it, but there’s a problem on disc 2, (a scratch I guess, it’s pre-played) the game plays fine but at one paticular part it freezes, when marcus leaves the party and steiner joins up with you to find garnet in alexandria castle, as soon as I walkthrough the fireplace it goes black and nothing happens, the music keeps playing but it just stays that way.

Now before I get a disc doctor or disc cleaning kit or whatever (or just buy it brand new) I have a couple questions, sometimes I come across statements on this forum about tips for scratched discs, like in-game reset or switching discs? I have no idea.

Also, I thought maybe I could avoid that part altogether, like choosing whether or not to beleive queen brahne when she explains herself/lies to garnet, maybe that would prevent that scenario?

I’m just making sure, I’m itching to keep playing and see what happens.

This happened to me and my brother a few times in many places, sometimes opening and closing the disc drive. If that doesn’t work get the cleaner.
