Trying to get onto a website. The main page works. But when I click on signup to register, I get the following error:

Not Found

The requested document was not found on this server.

I did everything on my end – check firewall, look for viruses, clear browsing data, etc. Still nothing. Everytime I google search, I see wordpress related stuff. But it is not a wordpress site I’m trying to get to therefore it iss of no help to me.

Could be just a bum site.
Google has issues. Lots of issues.

Probably a dead site (ie, no longer maintained) or even probably just a scam/hacker site to lure you in.

I was able to contact one of the admins and they said signups/open registrations aren’t available due to the massive amount of attacks the site has had so they put in an invite only policy.

I don’t know if that is the cause of the errors I posted above. It’s really the word document that has me puzzled as documents are things that you type up and save. I type documents all the time. That must be why when I Google seach, it keeps giving me WordPress related issues since that’s a place for documents. But none of that solves the issue either.

The main page right now is fine. It’s when I click on signup that I get that error.

That would be a cause for the errors.
It’s just how they handled it.

Other sites handle it differently and setup redirections or something or other.

You’ll have just have to bookmark the site and wait for registrations to open.
Or ask the site admins if there is a chance of registration opening soon.

Usually sites that lock registration have 3 solutions:

1) limited time for open registration (no announcement beforehand so not telling when it will happen)
2) donate to the site to gain memebership (to prove you’re not a spammer/bot/attacker and show peace and trust)
3) make a friend with someone from the site (somehow) so they can send you an invite (somehow)

Wordpress is also largely for blogging too.

All sites are created using documents, mainly .xml with millions of code.
The page for registration is disabled so you’ll get "the document cannot be found" because the admin disabled that page from functioning (off the written document that has all the functions and features for the designated page).

It’s just about the wording. Sometimes you’ll get "404" or "You do not have permission" or "Unavailable".
It just depends on the site structure. Every site operates differently on different… um.. things.

This forum, for instance is "Powered by vBulletin (https://www.vbulletin.com/) Version 4.2.0"

It’s all apples and oranges from the same market.

The site is already bookmarked. So it’s it’s just a matter of wait and see as this point as far as registrations. They said signups being closed is temporary so it’ll be open sometime. It’s jus ta matter of when.

I know about WordPress since I use it.

Thanks 🙂
