Okay, I haven’t played FFXI in about a month, so I let it run through all the updates today for PlayOnline and FFXI while I was doing other stuff.

So it’s all done updating and I go through the "new" menu page and go to login to FFXI and play, and my ISP drops me.

Being on dial-up, I figured it was a typical connection loss. So I reconnected, logged in again and made my way to FFXI, at which point I was promptly dropped again.

At this point, I got a bit irritated, so I reconnected and opened and ran a few other multiplayer games (Red Faction, Sacrifice, etc.) just to make sure it wasn’t my ISP being a bitch and that there wasn’t some setting off on that front. All the other games work just fine.

So yeah, the latest batch of updates have screwed me over on playing FFXI.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this problem?

And before you ask: Yes, my payments on the character ID and all that rubbish have been kept up.

All settings are on "Default" in the config programs for both PlayOnline and FFXI.

I’ll say it again, I’m beginning to get a bit pissed off.

HELP!

Well, the servers have been a bitch recently, maybe it’s just a problem with them again…?

I highly doubt that. I get an error saying "Final Fantasy XI shutting down, fullscreen mode was lost" and then my ISP connection closes.

Again, it’s beginning to piss me off, I can’t even delete my character and Content ID without getting to FFXI first, and I can’t even get that far.

Hell, all I was wanting to do was delete my stuff and close/cancel my subscription.

You can cancel without needing to access FFXI at all. You just will have an inactive account for 3 months and then it’ll be deleted.

Yeah, well why should I have to pay for three months of subscription (read: about $40), when I’m not playing?

Nononono, I mean you can set the account to inactive so that you don’t pay for it by using the POL navigator. Or even just cancel your Content IDs.

Interesting… I’ll check into that when I get home. Thanks.
