~ SUMMARY ~
This is Nippon Animation’s adaptation of Hector Malot’s novel, En Famille. It is the World Masterpiece Theater series for 1978 (known by its original name, Calpis Family Theater).

This is the story of Perrine Paindavoine, who with her mother, a capricious dog, and a loyal donkey, travel through Europe in order to get to France. Unfortunately, there were many trials and tribulations along the journey. As part of her mother’s last wishes, Perrine heads to the town of Maraucourt, where her grandfather, Vulfran Paindavoine, has textile mills. When she does arrive, she unwittingly ends up in the middle of the scheme between two men to become the heir to the Paindavoine factories and the vast fortune that goes with the factories.
