I first heard "In the Hall of the Mountain King" when I was a kid and had always loved it. I then discovered the Peer Gynt Suites at (almost) the same time that I first read The Hobbit and LOTR. It become part of an imaginary "soundtrack to LOTR in my head" (along with some other classical works). This was (of course) BEFORE the Peter Jackson films and Howard Shore’s fantastic score(s). THIS collection of Grieg’s work was performed by The Philharmonia Orchestra in 1958 and conducted by both Walter Susskind (the Peer Gynt material and Symphic Dances) and Sir Malcolm Sargent (Lyric Suites). Please enjoy Edvard Grieg’s Peer Gynt and Lyric Suites plus Symphonic Dances. Cheers!

Highly recommended, especially to those obsessed with RC/Media Ventures scores. Nice story to go with it as well, I haven’t got this version so I’ll have a listen and bear that in mind! Thanks.
