Well, this would very much appreciated, protium21. Not only is it a hugely underrated game but it also has a superb soundtrack that is just begging to be released in some shape or form.

Thanks very much

awesome; if you could post tutorials for people to do gamerips I’m sure people would appreciate it tons also.

just a note though: lame vbr -0 has identical sound quality to a 320kbps mp3, but uses less space. it’s really the best way to encode mp3 files.

I think there is already a thread for gamer rips but it doesn’t tell you how to get stuff from Xbox discs like I’ve had to here, so I’ll post a tutorial. However, the method of getting files from Xbox discs would need a person to have their Xbox modded so they can FTP into it – not sure I’m allowed to talk about that on here 😉

I only usually work with lossless codecs – FLAC, WAVPACK, APE, etc – it’s been a couple of years since I used mp3 encoding, but I’ll take your advice and do a HQ VBR rip aswell as a FLAC rip.

Early rips of OSW posted at GH included only music compositions (about 2,5 hours) and so if you will upload complete game-rip (with ambience tracks) it will be very good 🙂

I’m about half-way through extraction and I’ve already got about 30 tracks at about 3 mins long each.

The coders have been clever in stopping us extracting the music. Inside each .xwb (wavebank) container are 3-12 .wav files. Each track is made up of 3 of these .wav files. The .xsb (soundbank) files tell the the engine in which order these .wav chucks should be in… not even the Xbox SDK can open .xsb files!!

So I’ve had to manually splice each .wav chunk together in Adobe Audition… plus the majority of the tracks are meant to loop so I’ve had loads of fun editing – non-destructive editing that is.

This will be very welcome once completed. Thanks for taking the time to work on it.

same here. one question but does ripping audio from XBOX titles mean just inserting the title into your DVD+RW drive and exploring it’s contents?

No drive is capable of reading Xbox discs apart from the Xbox’s own drive. So the only way to read the disc is to place it in an Xbox and connect it to a PC/Laptop and FTP into it. However, this only works with a modded Xbox with a hacked dashboard.
