Oblivion is one of the few films that comes with an isolated score (Thread 138112).

I would like to isolate the dialogue+SFX.
I tried extracting the audio from the bluray, then extracting one channel from each file (isolated score and bluray audio) and inverting one of the two, but for some reason it doesn’t work.

Does anyone know how to do this?
Does anyone want to do this (in exchange for something, PM me)? 😛

Thread 138112

I’m looking for the isolated dialogue, or for someone who knows how to isolate the dialogue/SFX. 🙂

In other words, you do not want the score, you want the fx and dialogue, which is…unusual.

You want the dialogue FX for something you’re creating? i believe

Please avoid using "isolate" as it will cause confusion for so many who are just learning about "Isolated scores".

So you want:

1) Dialogue only
2) SFX only
3) Dialogue + SFX
???

I would rather have just the SFX.

For 2) Dialogue only, are you wanting the Narration? Or the dialogue of the characters?

What is your goal/project?
I’m curious.
I was going to extract a few samples to get some SFX of the Drones for PC sounds.
But in the near future: say the next 100 years.

Use the word "edit" or "extract". Don’t use "isolate", regardless if you are ‘isolating’ one element from another.

Thanks for the answers!

Technically I would like to "isolate"/extract the dialogue+SFX from the music.

I would like to rescore the film (or at least parts of it) for a project (it doesn’t have to be this film, I’m still thinking about it). So I want everything except for the music.
I tried using only the center channel, but it’s not 100% clean, and in many parts there is music on the center channel, or speech/effect on other channels, causing a loss of quality.

Phase inversion hasn’t worked so far (there’s no difference at all), because apparently the isolated score and the audio track from the film don’t contain exactly the same data. Or maybe I’ve been doing something wrong.

Technically, yes.

But this forum is a whole new world with it’s own lingo.

If you try Adobe Audition (CS6, is what I use), you can try copying the "audio fingerprint" of the music and then apply FFT modding to the center channel to minimize the music.

But if the dialog/sfx matches the music frequencies, some of it will be destroyed.

But, in my old days, I’ve found that whatever music I use, usually "masks" or "blends" the old music so it’s hardly noticable.
It will always be noticeable to you.
Always.

But to the average listener, indiscernible.

Unless they’re from here, then they will know exactly what you did.
Exactly.

The data should be exact, but mind you the iso score is at a higher frequency than the film mix.
That could be causing some of the discrepancies.
You may have to resample the iso score to match the film mix before doing any phase inversion or other editing techniques.
