Nightwish, they’re not bad

I was listening to Music Choice Metal when I heard Nightwish. And I didn’t like them at first, but I heard one of thier whole albums and I was impressed. The guitar ain’t bad, the drum roll is kinda simple, and the vocalist has got some pipes on her. But they ain’t bad for a sypmhonic metal band.

Any thoughts and opinions on Nightwish.

Someone used them for the BGM in a street fighter 3 combo video and my roommate thought the song was amazing. So he scrambled around to find out who made the song, and after discovering it was Nightwish, got a bunch of their other music and… most of it wasn’t that good.

We ended up deciding the first song only seemed to be good because it was used with the video because songs always seem better when they’re part of a soundtrack.

You know that always seems to be the case Rezo. Linkin Park’s "In The End" was better when I saw a Yu Yu Hakusho video.

Nightwish are alright. i like some of their songs especially ‘ever dream’ and ‘nemo’

I’ll second that, their lyrics and shoddy attempts at trying to pronunciate English words correctly are priceless.

I disagree with most of you. Nightwish is an incredible band. Being that they’re from, either Finland or Sweden (can’t remember which), that would explain their "shoddy" english. Anyone who’s a fan of metal music knows that the focus is on the music, not so much the lyrics. But it’s a case of either liking the music or not. As far as Lacuna Coil, LC is also very good, but they aren’t metal by any means. That’s like calling Evanescence metal, perhaps explaining why they are more liked (I’m betting the first song MOST of you heard by LC was "heaven’s a lie"? right? LOL.)

I quite like them, some good keyboard stuff, especially the intro to Bless the Child.

You can’t really take them too seriously after their rocked up imitation of "Walking in the air".

I don’t have much to add to this, if you’re not into something, you’re bound to make a negative comment sooner. They’re indeed from Finland, so given that, I still think there’s little wrong with their English, save fore the pronounciation. I do think that Tara has an increadible voice.

Ugh, Lacuna Coil… their music is too slow <_< Not enough words… gah. O_O And yes, they are pretty shitty too, but Nightwish are great. I love… the gothicy feel to their music, I mean, if gothicy is even a word <_<;

Nightwish is really cool, a friend of mine recently got me into them. Where is it they are from excally? If ya like them try checking out Lacuna Coil or Kidney Thieves both good groups as well.
