I bought Need for Speed Underground as an after-thought, but turns out its the best racing game I’ve ever played.

I think all the F1 series ran out of steam circa 97, when they tried too hard with launch control and all that complicated bollox.

But NFSU is a cracking buy for any petrolheads out there.

Just wanted to get a general consensus on what every one thinks is their favourite racing game?

Mario Kart 64. I can’t remember how much I used to play that game everyday with my friends. It was so much fun, and it still is to this day. But, since the release of Double Dash!!, I pay less attention to the one for N64.

I hated NFSU, personally. It’s obviously geared toward ricers and ricer wannabes who think The Fast and the Furious actually has something to do with street racing. The cars are so obnoxious that they make me want to puke. Physics are thrown out the windows in favor of "style."

And then there’s that damnable rap!!

I prefer the Gran Turismo series. Much better physics. Zero emphasis on what ricers think is cool. Nitrous oxide is dismissed as the garbage it is. Way bigger selection of cars. Superior in every way.

Some other racing games I liked were Burnout 2, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and Mario Kart 64. I’ve never played Double Dash because I don’t have a Gamecube.

I like Gt more than NFSU, but NFSU is a great racing game, I like the cars..

NFSU is a really, really fun game – the only thing that limits it is that the tracks all look exactly the same.

Gran Turismo is far superior, race-wise – but the fun and style of NFSU still makes it a worthy purchase.
