Welcome to the never-before-ripped Escape from Mars Starring Taz music. It took me almost 2 days of wave dumping, the use of Game Genie codes and Sound Forge edition to get this done and really close to perfect. As the game doesn’t have a sound test and sfxs seem to be placed randomly, a lot of trial and error was required.

LOWDOWN

– Boss music – though they share the same intro, some were particularly brutal to wave dump and I almost gave up. Then… after messing with the debug mode my hopes went up. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to get the third, fourth, fifth and final bosses tracks WITHOUT noises by "normal ways". Third and fourth bosses music required accessing debug mode, selecting a cutscene from the ending credits that apparently had no background music and dump there. The fifth demanded defeating it and not "changing back" into Taz before wave dumping (it’s the boss you "change brains" with a red creature and have to destroy a laser weapon that KEEPS SHOOTING and making undesired sfx…). The last boss makes constant stomping, so I had to enter in the XY mode via debug menu and keep Taz out of his reach. Looping was pure copying and pasting on Sound Forge in these cases

– Cutscene / noisy stages music – there’s a scene when you start the game where Marvin the Martian visits his zoo and a green monster is seen jumping in a cage. To get rid of this particular noise I used 2 Game Genie codes that make enemies and other objects disappear or freeze, somewhat cancelling unwanted sound. This wasn’t foolproof at all, as in some stages like Moleworld the moles stayed invisible but still shot their loud pistols. It worked wonders for the Moleworld 2nd stage though, where Taz is chased by a giant drilling machine

– Jingles – I couldn’t get all of them…

– Moleworld 1st stage music – I struggled to make this track noise-free but the game’s design didn’t help! This stage has only one checkpoint where you could wave dump the music nicely, HOWEVER the devs decided to place a mole right after it and restarting from it not only respawns the damned enemy as also makes him shoot Taz ASAP. So I decided to keep the version where you listen to the falling sound of the ACME box without breaking it : s this one however is THE ONLY of the bunch that didn’t meet my expectations!

All tracks were tagged, had their volume increased 2x, got a double 10 secs. fade out with Sound Forge plus Replay Gain
