Momoko, Kaeru no Uta ga Kikoeru yo ("My Sister Momoko")
This 2003 animated film for TV is about a mentally and physically disabled young girl who is lonely and distraught because she can’t go to an ordinary school like her brother, but gets her chance when an experimental integrated education program is launched. When Momoko’s health takes a turn for the worse her new friends rally around her in the hospital. Although the music for this tragic story has some lighter moments, it’s mostly a tender, understated score. There’s a sad vocal at the end, followed by a version with only the background music, just in case you feel the need to depress everyone at your next Karaoke party.

Thanks again for continuing to post rare Oshima scores. Your description got a good chuckle out of me as well. I always appreciate your detailed descriptions of what you post so that I feel I don’t need samples to decide if I should download something.
