In the Al Bhed ruins, at the beginning of the game, why is it that the music sounds like Greensleeves? Its different by 2 measures or so… ::smacks Nabuo::

I know I’m bumping a very old post but I was just browsing through all the posts on this board and I have to reply to this one.

YES.

During that part of the game, I kept hearing "Alas, my love…" and then realizing that it wasn’t Greensleeves after all.

This isn’t the first time Uematsu’s done this. One time I was on the world map in FFVIII and when my mom heard the music she started singing "Born Free." You can actually get about three lines into the song before the world map theme actually becomes different.

And yet Uematsu’s usually such a good composer! Why would he rip off other songs? :eye:

Hmm…if he is taking cues from other music, it’s probably not ripping off…it might not even be conscious. If you hear a rif you like, you’re likely to include it when composing your own work. Nobuo is even reusing his old FF7 music; just compare these:

Yuna’s Theme : Aeris’ Theme
Seymour’s Theme : Sephiroth’s Theme
Temple of Yevon : Forested Temple

…if it’s good, why not go with it 😉

Uh, no, that’s not a line from the game. It’s the first line of an old English folk song called "Greensleeves," which sounds like a song from FFX. I was saying I kept singing that line during the game because I kept hearing it in my mind when that song was played.

I think Aeris’ Theme was originally from Celes’ Theme, was it not?

Anyways, it’s hard to keep on making up new songs for each battle/boss/character/town/etc. :B

I don’t get how Rikku’s theme sounds like Aeris’s theme.

And Serena, the intro to Celes’ theme and Aeris’s theme is the same.
