LARGE MAGNITUDE BATTLE

Setting:
-An open area, perhaps an open plain, or maybe an asteroid field. Any place without a large majority of obstacles.
-Anywhere from 100 B.C. to the 39th Century

Plot:
-Two or more large forces, probably battalions, maybe armies coming together for a showdown that will go down in history books for ages.

What music would you feel best befits this scene and why?

I dunno… it depends on the outcome of the battle for me. I have heard songs where both sides faced annihilation or one emerges on top. I’ve been trying to look for a song that’s lengthy yet shows no bias on which side is winning. In a battle, the music changes with the amount of forward progress one side gets (for example, one side decides to bring it’s big guns early)…

Only one song comes to mind… Busou Renkin – Hangeki (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ru49nPm4Oo) only problem is that it is short

I’ll give you a couple.

#1-Battle on the Bridge from Final Fantasy Tactics
I chose this one because it’s dramatic, rhythmically driving, but seems to keep with the idea of a long battle, which it would certainly be with two large armies.

#2-Mars from The Planets. I would have put this at #1 if it were actually from a video game. However, they have ripped this song off in plenty of video games’ battle music.
I love this, and I think it’s the perfect song for the job because it builds spectacularly, is very percussive, represents the calls that would be heard from both sides, and it’s just plain exciting music that never lets up.

I was going to do a third one but I can’t think of anything to top Mars. Cheers!

No, no, no, NO!:D j/k

Guys(and gals?) please…it’s obvious the best pick is Battlefield Without Light (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8pf6wFn_go) from Suikoden 2.

If that’s a little too noisy, perhaps Ringing of the Front Plate (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aibb_T0eqK8) from Suikoden 3 is more your taste.:D

24 HOURS OPEN (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHDw1dteigA) from Cowboy Bebop. I think that some elevator music like this would just be awesome enough to work for a giant battle.
