I didn’t know weather to put this in here or in music, but it had to do more with poetry than music so I thought it’d be good for here.

So… do any of you think any songs lyrics are like poetry. I know of a few… just say the name of the song and post the lyrics. Here’s the two I wanna start with:

–BT – Satellite–

She smells of the sun
and she’s constantly saying
that’s it’s all right,
because lies sound so nice.
And like soil to seed goes
to casting my fears aside…

She says, "The satellite is coming".
I pray, the wrecking ball is waining
She says, "The satellite is coming.
It’s come to take us home".

Satellite…

Still smells of the sun
and the light that brings healing
is burning my eyes
and the dark seems so nice
and I’m choking on blessings that I can receive
I hide.

She says, "The satellite is coming".
I pray, wrecking ball is waining.
She says, "The satellite is coming.
It’s come to take us home."

———-

–Nine Inch Nails – We’re In This Together–

I’ve become impossible
holding on to when
when everything seemed to matter more
the two of us
all used and beaten up
watching fate as it flow down the path we
have chose

you and me
we’re in this together now
none of them can stop us now
we will make it through somehow
you and me
if the world should break in two
until the very end of me
until the very end of you

awake to the sound as they peel apart the skin
they pick and they pull
trying to get their fingers in
well they’ve got to kill what we’ve found
well they’ve got to hate what we fear
well they’ve got to make it go away
well they’ve got to make it disappear

the farther I fall I’m beside you
as lost as I get I will find you
the deeper the wound I’m inside you
for ever and ever I’m a part of

you and me
we’re in this together now
none of them can stop us now
we will make it through somehow
you and me
if the world should break in two
until the very end of me
until the very end of you

all that we were is gone we have to hold on
all that we were is gone we have to hold on
when all our hope is gone we have to hold on
all that we were is gone but we can hold on

you and me
we’re in this together now
none of them can stop us now
we will make it through somehow
you and me
even after everything
you’re the queen and I’m the king
nothing else means anything</center>

Well, my English teacher said that poetry is anything—songs are poetry, the lyrics are poetry and that lyric poetry is almost alway sung to a tune.

Well I don’t think thats true. Some songs wouldn’t make good peoms. Actually a lot wouldn’t. Especially most rap.

Well, I got one..

NIN – Hurt

I hurt myself today
to see if i still feel
i focus on the pain
the only thing that’s real
‘the needle tears a hole
that old familiar sting
tried to kill it all away
but i remember everything
what have i become?
my sweetest friend
everyone i know
goes away in the end
you can have it all
my empire of dirt
i will let you down
i will make you hurt
i wear my crown of shit
upon my liar’s chair
full of broken thoughts
i cannot repair

that’s all i remember lyric wise for that song.
