ok ok, so in my studies I found a huge list of people asking this same question on another board like 2 years ago and still posting links today.

Man it’s all about the plot symmetry. I got a good laugh yesterday when I thought about the significance of the clown. Here you have a clown, what does a clown symbolize? Clowns usually embody hilarity, tomfoolery, one to not be taken seriously, he’s a clown… a joker, one would be wise to observe and note this fact.

But then clowns are also part of our childhood psyche. Darco shoots Frank and with these words, a single sentence " GO HOME AND TELL YOUR PARENTS EVERYTHING’S GONNA BE OKAY!". This then gives you the feeling that what is happening is right, it’s like the child running to the parent. I couldn’t help but to give a deep chuckle after giving this some thought.

Like Donnie Darko? Maybe S. Darko when it finally comes out.

But as far as tragedy goes…

Did you even watch the movie or are you just stringing together a bunch of random footnotes? Not to mention a complete lack of a clown in the movie.

Jubilee is a rather odd film

I mean how often do you get Queen Elizabeth the First being transported via Richard O’Brian (of Rocky Horror and Crystal maze fame) and an angel in a black leotard to a post apocolypitic style punk future of the late 70’s where Buckingham Palace is a recording studio owned by a rather freaky eyed bald chap. Plus sex, murders and plenty of nudity, a random ballet scene, the punk entry to the eurovision song contest and a cruxifiction party style thing.

Oh and winning knickers at bingo.

It is utterly fabulous, but no idea what is supposedly going on.
