Well, for starters ALAC is compatible with very few software and even fewer devices. I would have to search for a method to remove the WAV from the ALAC container. Finally, I don’t know how good is ripping via Itunes against EAC.

There aren’t to many honestly. ALAC can be converted to FLAC very easily. But the main reason people ask for it is so that they can get the log/cue files which allows for them to put it directly on a blank CD or other stuff to that effect. There isn’t a difference quality wise and it’s much easier/faster than trying to rip from EAC which is why I use itunes for all my rips. Itunes is a pretty common software used by many people so I’ve always thought it’s pretty convenient for most folks.
