Hey good drawing. The body looks really good and so does the armour around the legs, but why does the head look like a missle launcher?

That IS a missile launcher! The head is a little further down the chest, the thing with 7 eyes. With mechas, I don’t like to see the head high up, like on a human. (Although Zone of the Enders is an acception! ^^) It seems more realistic to have the head in the torso, nice and compact. That’s just my style though.
