Each final fantasy had their own version of classic monsters all pimped out and everything. I always wondered which final fantasy people thought that particular monster looked best in.
The master tonberry looked the best in FF7, looked like a little whale that could… walk.. and had a knife… and a hood… and a lantern.

The malboro in FF8 will always be king

I like both of them most in IX. I tend to like the monsters/characters in IX because of cool, little aesthetic tweaks.

I liked how it was animated on X but I always liked the crown the Malboro from FF8 had. I never messed around with those bastards, with exception to FF7 I think they could take you out pretty easily if you did something stupid.

When I first saw a Tonberry in FFXI, down on Elshimo Island, I just ran the other direction as fast as my mithra legs could carry me.
Nasty, evil, and very, very dangerous. But so very, very cool. 😉

It’s like a hooded E.T. who would give you warts if you touched it.

I haven’t played XII yet, but I think XI wins on all accounts.

I’ve always been a fan of the classic cactuar, but the one in FF8 wins cause he had a pimpin mustache
I’m too lazy to look for mustache but I will hug the cosplay and scream in pain instead.

Ha! That’s because it DID fly. xD
I liked most of the monsters in FFVII, maybe because it was a serious upgrade from the sprites used in the early Final Fantasy games.

I just remember playing it casually with a friend and turning my head for pizza when I got into a random battle and just hearing.
"Oh shit it can fly"
I like the summons and the bosses in FF7 more than I have any of the others, except for Ifrit because he looked good in 8. Summons like Leviathin were nice without making it look more complicated than they have over time.

Not only did it fly, the NOISE that thing made creeped the crap out of me. It sounded like something with serious indigestion… XD
My vote goes to the malboro of FF8, the toonberry of FF9, and also since we mentioned cactaurs, I will forever be subconsciously wary of the cactaur of FF9, becuase my first game over in any FF game was thanks to a cactaur on the Outer Continent. 😛

Thanks to a cactaur on the Outer Continent. 😛
Oh, man, that one was brutal. 1000 Needles was brutal, and especially since all of my characters’ HP only reached a little over 500.

I always like the monster designs and how they differ on each FF. Out of those two particular monsters, I liked Tonberry from FFVII the most and Malboro from FFX. To me, that’s one of the greatest designed monsters yet.

They have a herbal taste but a bitter after taste. A friend of mine got one was funny as heck to watch her face when the aftertaste hit.
