Oh, tapoktro. Yes, I want it. And I’m sure you also know the version Kent Nagano conducted with the title "A White House Cantata"… with barely any naming of Alan Jay Lerner. Bernstein and Lerner were both angered by each other. And both were doing drugs. (Bernstein’s were prescribed, Lerner’s weren’t.) I wound up hearing more than I had read about this horribly sad relationship from members of their families. But… this is a wonderful score of music and lyrics. His libretto has someone improving it… but I more than wonder if two of the three Bernsteins will even consider this. Did your ever see a broadcasted summer concert in the seventies where Leonard Bernstein sang the part of the child and I seem to remember June Anderson was singing "Take Care of this House" with him on a stage. He LOVED these songs. Well, perhaps "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue" will have the rebirth Bernstein’s "Mass" has had. Yes, that one was also mocked and condemned in most major reviews. I want this to happen. So do many of us. Thanks so much for sharing AND restoring this!
