I bought this game a week ago or so. It’s actually the first real platform game I’ve bought for the PS2. I’m curious if anyone else here has played it and what they thought of it?

Personally the best thing is that the graphics are really colorful, which is something that’s kind of a must to me. The story itself is okay, nothing great to be honest, but it’s fun. The story itself is being told as if you were reading a comic book, I think it works well. (better then they could have made actual FMVs out of it).

Now for the important part: gameplay.

The controls are easy and fluent, the combo system is quite fun to use and lets you engage a dozen enemies at the same time. You can (eventually) alternate between three weapons that each have their (dis)advantages. Claws are the fastest weapons and are extremely lethal against unarmored opponents. However, they are useless against armored opponents. Then there is the hammer, it’s slow but it pulverizes everything. It shreds the armor of your enemies if it were paper. And there’s the sword, pretty mediocre weapon. Mediumly effective against armored and unarmored enemies and good speed.

There could have been more different enemies. You have rats and they are divided in half a dozen different kind of fighters, but I mean visually different. It tends to get boring to just fight rats and gorillas mainly.

I guess there’s enough replay value because you can unlock different items by collecting points and there are several ways to increase the total points you get throughout the game. And you can choose a higher difficulty.

All in all a great game that I purchased for a budget price (10 euros), that I’m having alot of fun with.

Anyone else liked this game and can recommend me similar games?

Wait a minute.. you bought KAY over RATCHET AND CLANK or SLY COOPER?

To each their own, I guess…..

Get those, Okami, God of War, DMC, DMC III, Prince of Persia I-III, Katamari Damacy and the Jak games ASAP.

I have Devil May Cry and Devil May Cry 3, but I count them as action games rathen then platform/adventure games.

I didn’t buy Kay -over- Ratchet. I said it was the first actual platform game I bought for the PS2 and it was a budget buy, they didn’t have Ratchet there.

Oh ok. Well.. buy those anyway.

It might sound extreme, but I kinda consider adventure games, those where you run and jump and shoot to be platform games.

I didn’t like Legend of Kay too much. I don’t remember why, but it just didn’t grab me and I played it for a couple hours, then shut it off and haven’t touched it again.

I dislike DragonsRevenge quite a bit, but he’s not wrong about the Ratchet and the Sly games. They are the best platformers for the system, and worth your consideration.
