Here’s the story as I recall it.

In 1974 Bernard Herrmann wrote the soundtrack for the first movie It’s Alive.

He died in 1975, and his longtime friend/associate Laurie Johnson worked the score that was already in place and added some touches as well and that is what we have here.

Yes, that’s how I remember the story behind IA2 also. And if anybody is interested in the score of the first movie, it was released recently by FSM:
