I just got back from USA yesterday. When in USA, I bought FFIX and FFVII, and I was really exited to try them. So, I go home, put them in my Playstation, and they don’t work! How come? Was all my money wasted? And is there anything I can do? I live in Norway btw…
And this is my first post, teehee…

No, they weren’t scratched at all! Brand new. What I’m wondering about is if European and American playstations are the same. Because I know the VHS’s amd DVD’s don’t work in Europe.

You will need a chipped (modded) ps2 or ps1 to play imported (not naitive) games
Buy games with the PAL logo for European and Australian releases
and purchase NTSC labled games for USA,JAPAN..ect

However your TV will need to support NTSC 4.43 and 3.xx if your in PAl regions as your games will appear green washed or grayscale also Pal runs on Generic 50hz and NTSC is 60hz naitive so make sure your tv is compliant otherwise you can damage your tv or picture tube setting the refreash rate to high …

Not all hope is lost!!! download a PSX emulator for your computer you will need a decent pc to get good results but you can run those games on the pc instead
for more detailed emulator info for psx PM me

Or, you know, he could just buy the PC versions of those games. I think they made a PC version of IX, anyway.

you dont understand i was providing a soloution to play those games from the other region….because he did not want to lose his moneys worth.

you can legaly use an emulator with original discs if you own a playstation
as you are entitled to backup the scph bios just the
same as you can have roms as a backup if you own the catridge …simple

Yeah, as Dark~Athosian said, you need to buy the PAL-version if you live in Europe. I also live in Norway, and what you said has happened to me more than once. It sucks.
