Is there any point to Tetra Master?

Right so, as I’ve said below I am playing this for the first time, I’m still in the first town and still haven’t found out the name of the Black Mage character, but I do know it. 😉 ANYWAYS, is there any point to Tetra Master at all through gaining cards. It seems a mess of random numbers to me GAH!!!. I guess what I’m saying is, can I achieve anything from it, like in FF 8.

Quick answer, no.

Long answer, the more cards you collect, the larger your card rank is. If you collect all 100 individual cards (you can’t have more than 100 cards on your person) you get a very high rank, but then afterwards you can tweak your cards to get even higher rankings. But all of this achieves nothing, you can’t refine your cards into items or anything, like in FF8.

It kinda gets more interesting and fun when you start getting more cards, but I still don’t understand that game completely… :/
