because I live in Philadelphia and ALL THEY PLAY HERE IS HARDCORE.

The point of this thread is that tonight I was seeing the Blood Brothers & Against Me in Philli. I dunno if anyone here is really familiar with them but to be honest it’s kind of an odd combination. Against Me is anarcho-punk and the Blood Brothers are this really bizarre sort of twist on traditional hardcore. Anyway, the friends I went with were going mostly to see the Blood Brothers and I mostly wanted to see Against Me. I’ve been disappointed in their recent material but I’m a huge fan of their old songs and they played a lot of those tonight, so I was super super happy. I sang my fucking head off when they played "Baby, I’m An Anarchist," and on their last song I was one of the lucky fans who managed to shove my way up onto the stage and sing into the mic. Really really good times. One of their guitarists was playing a Rickenbacker, which was really awesome.

The openers were hardcore bands too, one of which was from Sweden. I wasn’t all that into them but I moshed for them (I sat out for Blood Brothers because I was totally spent from Against Me) and now I’m a little sore. Crowd surfers are fucking idiots and I hate them.

Those hardcore dancers are fucking idiots, too!

Only, I don’t hate ’em; I like to watch them beat the fuck out of each other. It’s hilarious as shit.

Regardless, I can’t say it’s not hardcore. Gawd.

No, hardcore dancing is a lot of fun provided people aren’t assholes about it. Normally if you fall over in a pit people will avoid stepping on you and help you up. Sure there are some dipshits who just want to hurt people and get in there wearing spikes and crap but that’s not very common in my experience.

Crowd surfing is just plain obnoxious to everyone you are on top of, and you always fall on someone and hurt them. The difference is willful participation, when it all comes down to it.

lol Too much brain usage in the crowd department.

The kids down here (or, over here, up here, I don’t know where you live…) in the Nasvhille area are fucking nuts when they hardcore dance. They sling there fists in all directions with their feet, torso, head + hair, you name it, they’re flingin’ it. And they’re mean about it. It’s kinda rough.

This here is me being supremely jealous of you.

Two of my favourite bands in one show. You lucky bastard. ;_;

Good to hear Against Me! put on a good show. I heard they’d been getting lamer live. How were Blood Brothers, even though you were to spent to get right into them?

Man…I really need to just stick myself in a packing crate to the US or something.

I am sure the Blood Brothers put on a great show because my friend went into it being kinda mellow and bored and came out with his shirt off and almost limping. He probably has a black eye by now. I was sitting on the floor in the back enjoying my water, so I didn’t actually see them, but they certainly sounded… like the Blood Brothers.

I miss living in a place where punk bands come to play. ; ;

But hey, if you ever want to see a messianic reggae artist at a free concert, come visit me.

Also, I don’t like pits, because every time I’ve gone in a pit, someone touched my bum. I doubt any of said touching was actually on purpose, but it was still bum touching, even if it was accidental. And as a general rule, I don’t like it when random people touch my bum.

Bum’s a pretty awesome word though.

There are assholes who will try to touch girls in the crowds at shows, but I think they mostly do it when girls crowd surf, because I imagine it would be very difficult to actually intentionally touch anybody anywhere in the middle of a mosh pit.
